GABEL
was originally founded as a family business in 1956 by Galdino
Beltramello, who started making ski poles for local market.
In late '80s the whole business passed in his son's - Gianpietro Beltramello - hands, now CEO
and the sole owner.
In mid-1992, we established two additional production plants to the original
one in Italy, in Canada and Czech Republic, though recently the Canadian
production plant has been dismissed and Gabel North America was founded
as a commercial and logistic unit to serve the whole north american market,
whereas the Czech and italian plants have been further developed for production
capability.
Besides ski poles, in '94-'95 we started our lines of trekking
and walking poles, and in '99-'00 GABEL
ski helmets, ski goggles and sunglasses lines were introduced, enabling
us to to offer a fairly complete package to skiers and trekkers.
Now our products are distributed in 36 countries
around the world.
GABEL is proud to be an official
sponsor of the Canadian National Alpine
and Freestyle Ski Teams ,
since 1994, and official supplier of US Ski Team
since 2002; and here's Jean Cristophe Ewart, the youngest Gabel's sponsored Racer for the 2003-2004 season ; we have been official supplier of the American Himalayan
Foundation and the Canadian Seven Summits
Expedition (CSSE) of George Tumpac.
Normally
we partecipate (well... just our poles, usually!) in and/or sponsor
several expeditions around the world, like trekking trips on Kilimanjaro
(Kenya), and Baffin Island (CAN)
and Groenland expeditions carried out by Manrico Dell'Agnola (climber,
photographer), his wife Antonella Giacomini (head of the exp.s) and a few
other Italian friends.
Most of these events are open to the public, organized by renowned
agencies with vast experience in this field.
We are also involved with environmental organizations such as PETA and
IFAW, which are against the use of animals for product testing and protect
the environment for wild animals. The interests in these activities are
more on personal bases. All workers and owners of our group are moved from
this common aim which oblige ourselves to do something for the nature and
the environment ... specially for our children.
